Agendas:
Every student has been given an agenda. Agends are to be broght to school every day. Students are to write their assignments and important school information in their agenda. The agenda is our main form of communication with parents. We write behavior notes, school and class announcements, and other information inside agendas. We also use agendas to send home letters and information from the school. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PARENTS SIGN AGENDAS EVERY NIGHT!
Classroom Procedures:
Morning procedures: Students are expected to do morning work as soon as they enter the classroom in the morning. When morning work is complete, students should use the restroom, take excuses to the office, and then read their AR book. The school has a morning show at 8:00 in the morning. Absences are reported and we also take a lunch count first thing in the morning. Students are expected to stay quiet during this time.
Students should keep their subject folders, math text book, and a white board in their desks which have been numbered. Students also have a numbered box that contains classroom supplies (dry erase marker, colored pencils, glue stick, scisors, and other supplies). Each of the items in the box have also been numberd. The desk number, box number, and number on the supplies match. This helps students organize and keep up with their materials.
Students are expected to put their work in the appropriate folder, to put their desk supplies in their box, and to return center folders and classroom items to the appropriate place.
Students are to answer the Question of the Day at the beginning of each subject, These questions should be written in the appropriate folder along with the correct answer.
We have a time of math instruction each day and then we have math center time each day. Students are grouped into center groups. Each group member has a letter. Each week, we have five centers. Students are expected to complete one center each day unless they are absent or working with the teacher. Each center has enough supplies for each member. Each set of supplies are labeled with a letter. Students will only use the materials that are labeled with their letter. Students are expected to write the problem and the answer. Center work will be turned in each week for a grade. We do have math homework several times a week. Students are expected to write these assignments in their agenda.
Students come back to our room just before it is time to go home from Language Arts and Reading with Ms. Purcell and Ms. Strickland. During this time, we get ready to go home, hand out any school information or papers, and write in agendas. Students are expected to stay quiet during this time. Students are not allowed to leave the classroom until the appropriate bell (first bell is parent pick-up, the second bell is for the first bus wave, and the third bell is for the second bus wave).

10 points per day will be taken off late assignments and late homework.
Absences/ Make-up Work:
Students will be given make-up work when they are absent.
Student Handbook:
The student handbook is located inside the front of the student agenda and on the BCES website. You can also click here to view the student handbook. It contains the BCES policies and procedures which apply to all classrooms and all students.
Classroom Reward System:
Students are rewarded for appropriate behavior with a ticket. They are to write their name on their ticket and put it in their classroom box. At the end of the week, we will draw a few tickets from each box. If a student's ticket is drawn, that student will be able to choose a prize from the prize box. The more tickets a student has, the better the chance they have to win a prize.
The Five-Step Discipline Plan:
We have a new school wide discipline plan called the Five Step Discipline Plan.
Students are given a step for inappropriate behavior (Excessive talking, class disruption, not prepared for class, inappropriate notes, misbehavior in lunchroom, horseplay, arguing with peer(s), disrespectful to adult(s), refusing to complete assignments, misbehavior in hallway/restroom, out of seat without permission, gum/food/drink in class that is not approved, inappropriate body contact, sleeping in class, failed to serve detention, minor vadalism/theft, tardy to class, cheating/false information, throwing objects, other).
Consequences:
Step 1- warning or conference with student
Step 2- loss of privileges or isolation within the classroom
Step 3- Parent contact AND loss of privilege or isolation with another teacher
Step 4- Parent contact AND after-school detention
Step 5- Administrative referral
Students are rewarded for their good behavior with a school wide movie and treat.
